Baked apple butter

Baked apple butter

I used to have a recipe for apple butter baked in the oven, I have lost it. My grandchildren came to live with me and I opened a jar. They are in love, but I am lost, can you help me find it again.

thank you very much

Nini, not sure if this is the baked apple recipe you were after, but here it is.

8 cups applesauce
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. allspice
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Grated rind of one lemon

Method:
Mix all ingredients and spread in shallow baking pan. Bake at 275°F, stirring occasionally, until thick (about four hours).

Pack into hot, sterile canning jars.

If you want to keep the apple butter for long-term storage,it is better to process the apple sauce in jars by placing them in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.

Makes two 1/2-pt. jars.
