Holiday in the 1980's

Not actually the one we stayed in, but close!
Many years ago when my family lived in Northern Ontario, Canada, we had planned and booked a holiday on a Horse Farm in the southern part of the province of Ontario.
We had looked forward to this holiday and our children, who were 6 & 3 years old at the time, were excited about it too.
We arrived at the farm, to find that they had one pony, and were not the Arabian Horse Farm that they had advertised.
The cottage would have been great, if it had been clean - there wasn't even a front door on the cottage - it was being repaired when we arrived, so there was just a screen door (to keep out flies), but we couldn't lock that when we went out sight-seeing.
The cottage was supposed to be "fully equipped", but although there were knives and forks, there were no can openers or sharp knives for bread, toaster or coffee maker. There were also no curtains on any of the windows, and the place was full of flies.
We only stayed for two nights (equal to the deposit we had already paid), and we moved on to the town of St Thomas where friends of ours lived, and we spent the remainder of our holiday there.
The silver lining in this "cloud" is that while we were in St Thomas, my husband heard about a job, applied for it, and was hired on the spot!
It was the perfect job for him and we lived happily in St Thomas, Ontario, for many years.
I now own and operate a Holiday Home on our Hobby Farm, and welcome guests from all over the world.
You can bet that I make sure our guests are arriving to a clean, welcoming holiday home!
