Ribboned Amish Friendship Bread

Ribboned Amish Friendship Bread

Although I've been baking Amish Friendship Bread for what seems like eons I've more recently being "modifying" it. Amongst some of my "creations" is the addition of a ribbon of cream cheese. I make a Pumpkin Ribbon Bread and from it I utilize the following recipe for the "Ribbon":

2 3 ounce pkgs of cream cheese, softened

1/3 cup sugar

1 tablespoon flour

1 large egg

2 teaspoons grated orange peel

Mix all above until smooth, pour half of the Amish Friendship Bread batter into a loaf pan put a couple of tablespoonfuls of the above recipe in the middle of the batter and put the rest of the batter on top. Bake as usual.

I'm also a lover of Scandinavian baked goods and, as everybody knows, the Swedes, Norwegians, et. al. use a lot of cardamom. I substitute cardamom for the cinnamon in the Amish Friendship Recipe.
