Orphan lamb colostrum question

Orphan lamb colostrum question

by Christy
(Melvin texas USA)

We have found a 2 day old barbado lamb, we are 25 miles from town, only have olive oil & canola oil to make colostrum is either of these oils acceptable?

Christy the reason why castor oil or cod liver oil is included is that it acts as a slight laxative. Olive oil or even canola oil, for that matter, won't work in the same way.

However, olive oil will still be good for your orphan lamb so use that. Don't use canola oil, not even for yourself. It is one of the worst seeds in the USA to use in oils as almost all of it now is grown as a genetically modified crop.

All the best with your lamb.

Kathryn

Canola oil

Interesting about the canola oil. Thanks for sharing! I use only peanut oil or olive oil in all my cooking and baking.
