Pennsylvania Dutch Potato soup with Rivals?

Pennsylvania Dutch Potato soup with Rivals?

by Tamra

I have been making this soup for over 25 years and would like to know if it really is a Pennsylvanian Dutch recipe.

The only real difference in the recipe from just an ordinary potato soup recipe is the Rivals, which are 1 cup of flour and 1 egg crumbled and than put into the soup at the end like dumplings.

It is delicious and everyone loves it! Thanks! I think I might have gotten the recipe from the Frugal Gourmet... Thanks.

Hi Tamra

The recipe is indeed a Pennsylvanian Dutch recipe. We think it's a delicious recipe too, that's why we included it in our recipes section.

Glad you and those you make it for find it delicious too.

It is not surprising that good recipes are those that stand the test of time!
