This is no lye!

This is no lye!

Why won't my no lye soap lather up and what can I add to it to make it do so?

You haven't given us the recipe, so difficult to make a call on this one. However, it will be down to the type of oils or fats that you have used.

One of the best oils for lather is coconut oil. It makes a soap that will give you big, beautiful bubbles, and lots of them.

I also like using olive oil as I love making Castile soaps but the bubbles are smaller although you still get a rich lather.

There are some that feel that the olive oil based soap makes the skin feel slimy rather than giving it a good lather. I have never had this problem, although there will be some who would probably disagree.

Kathryn
