As far as I can see we have no disadvantages to milking machines. For the latest technology I would highly recommend a Boumatic Gascoigne Mellotte as when we were looking at milking machines they were miles ahead of the opposition- They are slightly dearer but the quality and service provided was, and still is, top quality.
