When to Caponize and Cruelty Issues Regarding Caponizing.

The birds are easiest and best caponized at 10 days to 2wks. Less traumatic and less mortality. To answer the critics regarding pain.... the internal organ only perceive pain that is produced by stretching of the organ in question. This is in the human. The testicle is not stretched, the cord and blood vessels are to a limited degree. Pain mostly would be secondary to the incision initially made in the skin. I have never had a bird show me discomfort during the coponizing procedure.

No success finding the testes
by: Anonymous

Hi,

I made the incision as instructed and peaked inside the bird, but never did find the testes. Thankfully the bird is ok...closed him up, but would still like to caponize him and another rooster rather than slaughter them. However, do not want to make a practice of mutilating them either. Are there any other instructions/photos/videos anywhere. So far online information is not as explicit as I'm hoping for.

How would I locate someone who has Caponized a lot, so I can learn how to Caponize hands on. I live in Southern Missouri, USA.
