Tomato Pie Recipe

My husband has spoken of a tomato pie recipe his grandfather used to make. Grandpa died in 1962 and I have never heard of a tomato pie using ripe tomatoes before. Does anyone know of this pie?
My husband's family is from Georgia.

Mildred, not sure which tomato pie recipe you are after, as you didn't mention any ingredients. However, there are a couple of recipes here for you. Hopefully, one of them is the pie recipe you are after.
Tomato Pie Recipe 1
Slice up some ripe tomatoes and place them in a greased pie dish. Sprinkle with chopped parsley, salt and pepper. Cover with some seasoned mashed potatoes moistened with a little milk, and bake the pie in a moderately hot oven until the top is lightly browned.
Tomato and Corn Pie
Take 1 pint stewed tomatoes, 1 tine sweetcorn, 1 tablespoon butter, 1 tablespoon breadcrumbs, 1/4 lb grated cheese.
First put a layer of corn in a buttered baking dish. Then layer with slices of ripe tomatoes. Sprinkle with grated cheese and repeat layers. Finally, sprinkle with crumbs, dot with butter and bake for half an hour in a moderate oven.
Tomato and Apple Pie Recipe
Butter a pie dish. Mix 1 cup peeled tomatoes, 1 cup peeled and chopped apples, half a cup grated or chopped onion, flavor with salt and pepper. Press into dish. Cover with knobs of butter, and sprinkle with dry bread crumbs. Bake for 45 - 60 minutes in a moderate oven until crumb topping is crisp.
Egg and Tomato Pie Recipe
Skin and slice some ripe tomatoes to fill a greased pie dish. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and a little sugar. Add a well beaten egg and half a pint of full cream milk or cream. When the pie dish is fully, put a layer of puff pastry over the top of it and bake in a hot oven until the pastry is puffy and golden.
Rice and Tomato Pie Recipe
Grease a pie dish and layer alternatively with cooked rice and sliced tomatoes. Season well with salt and pepper and a sprinkling of minced onions or green onions. Pour over it either a puree of tomato or an egg beaten with a small cup of milk. Bake until a pale brown.
Instead of rice, you can use breadcrumbs, and in place of the puree you can use any leftover white or cheese sauce.
Bacon and Tomato Pie
1 lb fresh tomatoes,sliced
1 breakfast cup grated cheese
2 breakfast cups breadcrumbs
8 rashers bacon, chopped, or 1 cup diced ham
salt and pepper to taste

Arrange tomatoes, cheese and bacon in layers in a greased pie dish lined with 1 cup of the breadcrumbs. Finish the top layer with the remaining breadcrumbs.Dot with knobs of butter and bake in a moderately hot oven for 30 minutes.
Butter Bean Tomato Pie
Soak half a pint of butter beans over night. Place in sufficient boiling water to cover, add a sliced onion and cook until quite soft. Drain. Or use 1 can of drained butter beans. Mix with 1 tablespoon chopped parsley, 1/2 cup chopped leeks and 1 small can tomatoes. Season to taste. Place in a greased pie dish. Cover with a round of short-crust pastry and bake in a moderate oven until golden.
Macaroni and Tomato Pie
Grease a pie dish, layer tomato slices with some minced onion and grated cheese, a layer of breadcrumbs, pepper, salt a little butter and a pinch of sugar. Then a layer of cooked macaroni. Continue to layer like this until the dish is full. Cover well with breadcrumbs and dot with knobs of butter, put into a hot oven for 30 minutes.
Sausages and Tomato Pie
Skin some pork sausages, cut them in half lengthwise and lay half of them in a greased pie dish. Sprinkle with with fried, sliced onion and slices of raw, red tomatoes. Season well with salt and pepper and add the remainder of the sausages, cover with stock, and a thick layer of mashed potatoes. Dot with butter and brown in a moderate oven.
Tomato Pie Recipe 3
1 lb tomatoes
1/2 bunch green onions
2 hard boiled eggs
2 teaspoons chopped parsley
2 tablespoons cooking oil
salt and pepper to taste
breadcrumbs
1 green pepper
Skin the tomatoes and cut in halves. Fry lightly in oil. Remove and place in an ovenproof dish. Chop the green onions finely and fry for a few minutes in the remaining oil. Add green pepper and fry a little longer. Add parsley, season with salt and pepper and add a little stock just to moisten. Chop up the eggs and sprinkle over the tomatoes, then add the remaining ingredients. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs and bake in a moderate oven for 30 minutes.
Classic Tomato Pie
1 cup brown onions, medium diced
3 medium tomatoes, sliced
1 cup fresh basil, chopped
2 cups shredded cheddar
1/2 cup mayonnaise (or enough to bind)
1 lb bacon, cooked and chopped
salt and pepper to taste
Grease pie dish and line with breadcrumbs. Brown in a moderate oven until slightly brown. Layer slices of tomatoe over pie crust. Add salt and pepper to taste. Top with chopped basil and diced onions. Mix cheese, bacon and mayonnaise until combined. Press cheese mixture on top of pie. Bake, uncovered for about 30 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
